BUILDING STRENGTH, CONFIDENCE, INTELLECT, FUNCTIONAL BIOMECHANICS & VELOCITY
100 percent I recommend Hawk as a pitching instructor. As a dad I needed Coop to get his confidence back on the mound so I looked to you for help. Coop has regained his confidence with your guidance. He wants to pitch, he now understands arm care and arm maintenance. He knows that in order to compete he needs to do his work.
Your ability to reach all age levels with the same intensity and get the most out of these kids regardless of skill set is what I find incredibly amazing. It’s a magic formula that very few have. You have it and I’m fortunate as a dad to be able to have my son be around you and the culture you create.
Any pitching prospect in the area is foolish to not look into your program/culture so he can prepare for the next level, especially on the mental side.
I can’t thank you enough for helping Coop get his confidence up. I think as you have gotten to know me, it’s more than results. There is no price tag on the fact he understands what goes in to competing on a high level. Whether it’s on the mound, playing the infield, applying for a job or doing well on a history test. He knows he has to work for it. He goes in his room and does his arm care at night. I have hit him ground balls before and he tells me he’s already done his arm care finishers so no more throwing. He has also incorporated a lot of the same exercises you guys do into our team stretches prior to practice.
I thank you.

We were recommended to Hawk by a fellow player with whom our son has played for many years. Based on that recommendation, we set up an initial consult and were immediately impressed with Hawk’s demeanor, thoroughness and willingness to understand our son and what his immediate and long term goals were. From a parental perspective, I was really taken with his interest in coaching the entire individual: he focused not just on baseball mechanics but also on the panoply of issues that an individual teenager and high school student brings to the game: grades, home life, girls, etc. Following that initial consult, Hawk easily pinpointed a number of areas in which our son could improve as a baseball player and student-athlete generally; his writeup of my son’s current “ability” was a virtual novel and covered every aspect of his approach to the game. Over the next 6 months that he worked with our son, our son showed substantive and continual improvement in all facets of his pitching: mechanics, strength, mental approach and confidence. It is not a small exaggeration to say that Hawk took a pretty good left handed pitcher and, with our son’s own drive and commitment, turned him into a starting pitcher at an elite high school baseball program.
From my son’s perspective, he would add that he relishes every session he gets to spend with Hawk and he learns somethings every time out. In particular, my son likes that they talk about more than mechanics and include mental approach to individual at bats and game situations and how to have a “winning” approach on the hill.
Hawk has also gone out of his way to provide follow up and guidance outside of the “ordinary” 1:1 sessions. He is always willing to speak with our son on the phone or via text before and following his outings. He has a strong interesting in seeing our son succeed well beyond the time he has spent with him. For this, we are very grateful and shows Hawk’s commitment to work on an ongoing basis with his students. It is really more than an economic relationship of money for services; it goes well beyond that and shows Hawk’s true interest in seeing our son succeed in both baseball and in life.
Given the many years my boys have been involved in elite travel baseball, I would like to consider myself a knowledgeable consumer of “specialized coaches.” Even with that, I cannot recommend Hawk highly enough. He is a superb teacher and I highly value his mentorship of my son and of me as a baseball parent. John Shinn. Menlo Park, CA
Hey Hawk, thought you would be interested that your pupil signed his contract today to play this summer for the Burlington Sock Puppets in the Appalachian League. Pretty cool if you ask me and his manager is some guy named Jack McDowell. I think he won some awards as a player.
I would absolutely recommend Hawk. Both of my sons Dylan and Liam work with Hawk. They have both improved their pitching mechanics, velocity, and, mental approach to the game. Hawk truly cares about developing each and every player he works with. Most importantly, he builds a relationship with the player.
My sons tell me constantly they enjoy seeing Hawk weekly. They look forward to telling him how they pitched whether it’s good or bad. My oldest son Dylan just made the NTCB League team which is an elite group of 14u players from Northern California. Dylan said to me after he made the team, “Hawk really helped me achieve this.” Thanks Hawk.
Tim Philibosian, Burlingame, CA.
I would highly recommend Hawk to anyone who is looking for a great pitching coach! Our son, Matthew, has improved so much since he has been with Hawk. Not only have his mechanics improved, but his confidence has increased ten-fold and his ability to handle and respond to tough situations has changed dramatically!
His confidence has gone from not wanting to pitch any more to being amped, ready, and confident. Matthew's on mound presence has changed from frustrated to poised. He no longer looks at his coach (Dad) after every pitch, he no longer is bothered by mistakes behind him and he's having fun. He is pain free and his arm soreness is gone, he is proud to stretch before the games, he's diligent and maturing as a boy and as pitcher.
As a parent, I am so appreciative of the quality time Matthew gets with Hawk. Hawk not only sees the athlete in the kids, but also takes the time to get to know them as individuals. Hawk recognized that Matthew was having a tough time before one lesson and, instead of having him throw, Hawk spent the time just talking to Matthew one on one. It meant so much to me as a parent. He really cares about the kids he works with!
Matthew's pitching stats are off the charts B.H. (Before Hawk) 2018 - 51% strikes. 26 IP, 26 BB, 22.7 pitches per inning. Now in A. H. (After Hawk) 2019 - 77% strikes, 30 IP, 5 BB, 13.5 pitchers per inning. All our thanks because Matthew is loving baseball! Janet and Tom Vaughan. San Mateo, CA
Hawk is an amazing pitching coach. My son is 15 years old and has been playing recreational Little League, then Pony and multiple year-round travel teams. Not to knock other pitching coach styles, Hawk is the only on who has set up a comprehensive development plan involving exercises and drills to strengthen and/or stabilize auxiliary muscles. Hawk also sends home exercises to be done in between lessons. During live sessions, hawk uses video analysis to show both the student and parent the incremental improvement from week to week.
My son just came off an over-use injury involving two small but painful tears in his rotator cuff. Hawk took over his development and rehabilitation. After missing his freshman year due to injury, he is now throwing PAIN FREE with MORE VELOCITY and officially made the junior varsity team!!! Sonja and Dan Walker. Sunnyvale, CA
We have YOU to thank sooooooo much for working with Connor so that he could achieve his dream of making the team at Serra! This never would have happened without the commitment you made to him — the training, the support, the encouragement, the time, the energy and the belief he could do this! And of course the hotline to his stressed out mom! We are very very grateful to you!! You are such an encouraging, supportive presence in Connor's life and we thank you for that! Connor's work with you on the mound was definitely a highlight of the year; we talk about it often. And I think you've made a lasting impression on him, both as a player/pitcher, as well as a young man -- so we sincerely thank you for that. Kim and Dave Bottoms. San Mateo, CA
Hawk - Ty is really loving the workouts and his new regimen. He doesn’t say much usually, but loves to tell me things you teach him. Thanks for being such a great mentor! He said just last night he absolutely loves what he is doing now with you, the healthier eating, the weekly throwing, the 3x week strength and conditioning.
Your comments about his potential, instruction on corrective body mechanics, and Champion's Posture are helping him truly believe in himself and that just maybe the next level of baseball is possible for him. Long winded way to say, thank you for what you do for my son! Tanya Moniz-Witten. San Mateo, CA
Simply put, Hawk is the best. We could not recommend someone more strongly as a pitching instructor. He is an incredibly capable teacher, mentor, and coach.
He delivers specific, clear, and effective instruction. My two boys also value just being with Hawk and talking about baseball, life, etc. In fact, our entire family looks forward to seeing Hawk, who is an extremely high quality, intelligent, multi-talented person.
Hawk is an effective teacher and communicator - everything he says has purpose and helps aspiring pitchers improve. My oldest son just made his highly competitive high school team and we attribute this to his improved velocity, accuracy, mechanics and confidence.
We are particularly excited to continue working with Hawk on velocity improvements over time. Hawk employs drills and the latest evidence-based teaching methods that target developing athleticism, arm care, and methods to improve velocity. Renee and Rob Little. Lafayette, CA
Working with Hawk has helped my sons become better pitchers. Hawk emphasizes proper bio-mechanics, repetition and arm care. He has broken down my son's delivery and fixed areas of imbalance or poor technique that were the causes of location mistakes and sub-optimal velocity.
Hawk is a pro. He's on time, brings a positive attitude always, and is about continuous improvement. He checks in on my son's performances, reminds me about pitch counts and arm care, and makes a total investment in his development as an athlete. I cannot recommend Hawk highly enough for what he does.
My sons play elite level travel ball. They have had several coaches and influencers in their development. They have shared with me Hawk is the only pitching instructor that has had a direct positive influence on his game day performance. I've noticed improvements just after 2 lessons with Hawk.
Also, when my son makes mistakes in game situations, because of Hawk's teachings, my son for the first time is able to self-diagnose the problem and solve it. We work with Hawk once a week and believe regular maintenance is vital to my son's improvement. Caine Moss. Hillsborough, CA
If you're looking to become a better pitcher (and, for that matter, a better person), I recommend Hawk 100%. Our son has been working with Hawk for over a year now and has seen tremendous progress in his pitching. Hawk has also become a role model and mentor for our son, helping him develop a set of rock solid values that he can use on the mound and in life.
Hawk's workouts are tough, inspiring, and zen-like. He does a masterful job of packing 60 minutes with just the right amount of information, physical activity, and pitching. A typical workout starts with warm-up, mobility and conditioning work and ends with a concise, targeted bullpen. There's lots of coaching, tips, and general knowledge delivered throughout each session. Our son leaves each workout inspired and with plenty of things to work on before his next session.
Our son's pitching performance has improved dramatically since he started working with Hawk. He earned a spot on his high school JV team as a freshman. It starts with the foundation Hawk has built - improved alignment, better timing, lots of core development. Velocity is up and command is much better as a result. Hawk has also spent time on specific pitches, developing a two-seam with real movement and change up that my son can throw consistently. There have also been major improvements in the mental game, specifically as it relates to how to manage tough, in-game scenarios.
Hawk has helped reinforce the values that my wife and I try to instill in our son: work hard/play hard; be accountable; focus on the process; be resilient; live life to its fullest... For Hawk, pitching isn't just an athletic activity - it's a discipline and craft that can shape how you lead your life. That's why the title "Pitching Coach" doesn't do Hawk justice. Scott Albro. Atherton, CA
I highly recommend Hawk as a pitching instructor for any pitcher who has high goals to perform. His combination of communication skills, personality, and pitching background creates a great atmosphere for aspiring pitchers. My son is a high school pitcher who also was recently coming off of a broken wrist in his pitching arm. Hawk’s genuine enthusiasm to both teach and inspire was perfect for my son in his quest to return to form and restore his confidence.
Hawk focuses on both the mental approach and the physical fine tuning needed to get my son’s performance back to form, and to also get him to optimize his skills on a go forward basis. Everything, ranging from breathing techniques, to balance drills, to timing of the hand break, and pitching grips receives Hawk’s focus. He has taught my son a curve ball with late break that he can throw confidently for strikes.
His use of video has been a huge aid, too, as it discovered that my son was lifting his back foot in an attempt to get a large stride, thereby causing his head to move and effect accuracy. That one finding has quickly led to improved results. We look forward to continued sessions with Hawk. Adam Tennant. San Ramon, CA
My son and I would recommend Hawk's pitching and fitness instruction without hesitation. Since my son has started working with Hawk, he has become far more enthusiastic about pitching. He looks forward to his workouts. He has a greater appreciation and understanding about the art of pitching. He has made great strides since he started working with Hawk. Luca is new to pitching. In just a short amount of time working with Hawk he has become a more consistent pitcher. He is has a better understanding of pitching mechanics and what adjustments to make when he's missing the strike zone.
His velocity is increasing with every session and as he continues to work on his own. He is developing a strong foundation in all facets of the game (mental, physical, enjoyment). It's been exciting watching him grow as player but also mature as a person as he soaks in the philosophy, physics, and biomechanics of the sport.
As an involved (maybe overly involved) dad and a coach, I think it's very important that my son has the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by other important figures in his life beside mom and dad. Luca is 12 years old. I believe role models and mentors play an extremely important part in shaping his character. The lessons that he is learning from Hawk go beyond baseball. He is learning how to conduct himself professionally, the benefits of hard work, how to communicate, and the joy of playing the great game of baseball from someone who's done it at the highest level. These are just a few things that have a powerful impact on shaping him as young man. I couldn't be happier with the benefits of my son's training with Hawk, and look forward to his continued development as a player and person under Hawk's guidance.
Luca says, "Hawk helps with your velocity and control, and how to strengthen your arm and keep it safe from injury. I like training with Hawk. We work hard and I learn a lot. I understand pitching much better now. I know what to work on, and how to improve. Workouts are serious but I have a lot of fun at the same time." Mike Rossi. San Ramon, CA
Hawk has been an extremely valuable pitching mentor to my son... My son Dylan was struggling on the mound at the begging of his Spring Little League season. His mechanics were inconsistent, his velocity mid-range, his attitude on the mound very average. I needed a solution badly if he was to continue as a 12 year old pitcher in little league and wherever his future would hold.
Let me tell you, he’s matured greatly through proper mentoring, teaching, coaching and philosophy, now hammering the corners with control and confidence, increased velocity, and an understanding for the role as a pitcher.
Hawk’s Zen style approach at the beginning of his training has given Dylan a much better appreciation, physical and mental toughness to taking the mound. Hawk’s approach brings out a passion in the player that creates a drive and will to take the mound and perform at a high level. Dylan will happily work out with Hawk for over an hour and come home excited about the next session learning about the art of pitching.
I am happy to say that through Hawks teachings Dylan had an OUTSTANDING season, pitching in plenty of games and helping his team greatly. He’s been selected as an All Star with the role as a pitcher, and I can truly see a future on the mound. He still works with Hawk and will continue to do so for years to come.
Through Hawks extensive education in arm care with focus on biomechanics and sports medicine and physical conditioning he’s able to build a pitcher from bottom to top. Starting with a very holistic approach to educating the young pitcher on the proper mechanics and how to stay strong and healthy by way of proper nutrition and physical fitness. Then takes to the mental approach by way of teaching game philosophy, strategy and a desire to perform at a high level.
I couldn’t be happier to have discovered the Art of HAWK!!! Chip Congdon. Danville, CA
We wholeheartedly recommend Hawk as a pitching and fitness instructor! Theo really looks forward to his lessons days in advance. He has learned a great deal about the mechanics of pitching but also about the importance of taking care of his body and physical fitness in general. I am finally able to persuade Theo to eat healthier breakfasts and to hydrate well by reminding him, “Hawk has taught you about eating healthy and staying hydrated” and that is all I need to say! Hawk has an infectious positive attitude and Theo can’t wait to tell him about his most recent baseball games. It is a rare gift to find a male role model outside of the family for boys who really listens and genuinely cares and Hawk is that guy for Theo. Aside from the pitching skills that Theo has gained and will continue to gain, we are grateful to have Hawk in Theo’s life.
Theo says he really enjoys talking about baseball while he warms up and stretches with Hawk. Theo enjoys his “Hawk time” so much that he asked for a second lesson each week. Theo feels much calmer on the mound thanks to his lessons with Hawk and Theo feels more confident about his pitches and more confident that he can calm himself down if he gets frustrated.
Theo has shown great improvement. Hawk teaches pitching mechanics and how to keep his arm strong and healthy while making the lesson really fun. Theo has learned three new pitches and he throws harder. He has also learned how to stay calm on the mound and to keep working efficiently. Theo absolutely loves baseball and likes it even more thanks to his time with Hawk.
I love watching the last 10 minutes of their lessons when the imaginary batters hit against Theo while Hawk catches and is the umpire. It is entertaining when Theo shakes off Hawk’s pitch calls and then Hawk comes to the mound to have a quick discussion about their strategy to strike out the “batter.” As a parent who loves baseball, it is really sweet to watch those moments while they are working hard and sharing laughter. Michelle and David Ebersman. Hillsborough, CA
Another All-Star year! Era at 2.95 in 30 innings and a chance to play in the Prospect League in a week. It's been a great summer. Thank you Hawk! Jake Thompson. William Jessup University
We highly recommend Hawk- he's the best according to my twin boysand they say they can't wait to go back to their next session! Both boys can articulate a better understanding of functional fitness and how it relates to playing the game.
Hawk has a very unique approach that combines skills, functional fitness, and game knowledge that young boys identify with in a way that we haven't seen with any other coach. Tracy and Alan Chandler. Alamo, CA
It can not be overstated how highly we recommend Hawk. Our son's experience has far surpassed our expectations. He recently made his highly competitive high school team! Workouts that focus on overall functional fitness, arm strength and prolonged health, as well as pitching mechanics keep our son enthusiastic and engaged. Hawk brings an unprecedented level of professionalism to every session, but he also has fun with the kids.
In addition to being a professional athlete, Hawk was a teacher and it shows. His level of instruction and the way he breaks information down, coupled with both his realtime and video instruction, are incredibly effective and efficient. My son says Hawk is, "Better than any other pitching coach he has ever had."
He feels Hawk's instruction is more thorough and that he explains the mechanics in a way he understands and can put into practice. Plus, my son loves the fitness component! He likes that the hour is spent not just throwing pitch after pitch, but doing a series of different cross-specific drills and movements. My son is never bored and always comes away having worked up a good sweat!
His overall fitness level has improved as well as his respect and understanding for the importance of proper biomechanics and drills to ensure his prolonged arm health. He has learned a number of new pitches and gained a greater understanding of what pitch to throw when and why? Hawk is teaching our son to be a pitcher, not just a thrower. He is teaching him the importance, timing, and beauty of a properly chosen pitch.
Hawk is a great role model for his athletes both on and off the field. He is positive, knowledgeable, innovative, and a student of the game. He is constantly striving for new ways to better teach and prepare his athletes for success both in baseball and life. Shannon Freeborn. Alamo, CA
I recommend Hawk as a pitching instructor because my grandson comes home with a smile after every workout. He is the first coach that my grandson has ever worked with on his, pitching, total fitness and strength.
My grandson says, "He is making me a stronger person and athlete. We never waste time and I learn so much in an hour about how my body informs my mechanics. I've never wanted to play baseball as much as I do now because I feel more confident and physically and mentally fit."
Hawk makes learning the game fun and my grandson tells me, "He is the best teacher I've ever had." Jill Corkern. Diablo, CA
"Thank you so much Hawk - you are such an amazingly positive and inspiring influence on our boys. We cannot thank you enough!"
"My son is adamant about working with you, so I know he enjoys working with you. It’s the little things about pitching he eats up and you’ve been able to fill in the gaps and make him a more efficient pitcher. After his last game, he was pumped and I know he attributes it to your coaching. He trusts and respects you!"
"I wanted to let you know that I committed to Stanford last night. Thank you so much for everything you taught me about pitching." -Archer Horn

Jack Lanham 2022 Peninsula Athletic League First Team
Man, we missed seeing you! You had Brody throwing harder than I’ve seen in awhile. Thank you for getting his lower half going. He said you really helped him find a new gear…
"I wanted to thank you for all your support prior to and up to his time on the Serra team. Serra lost today in CCS so they are out for the year but I can’t tell you what it meant for him to make the team and be taken seriously by his coaches. You were such a big part of that. Thank you!"
"My boy pitched AWESOME this weekend in AZ. He faced our toughest team 2x for a total of 5 innings. Held them to 1 unearned run. Looked calm, cool and collected. He’s always needed an inning or so to “settle” in, but I could see he was so much more confident in his ability, which led to a MUCH more relaxed approach. Really awesome to see all your work paying off."
"Hawk- I've increased my long toss distance to 113 yards!"
"Hawk wanted to let you know I made varsity this year, thanks for all the guidance and helping me improve."
"He made JV as a freshman. thanks for all of your work with him. — his arm feels great!"
"After working with you and your velocity blueprint program, my average fastball speed today is +4 MPH faster than my baseline assessment."
"Fall season has ended, had a solid meeting with my manager and pitching coach. I’ve earned my spot on the team as well as on the spring trip to Arizona. They see me as a reliever this season, with some possible opportunities to start as well. Now time to grind in the weight room and keep getting reps on the mound. Thanks again for all your help this summer."
"You have made such an impression on my son. Thanks for having such a positive influence on him. It’s important to have him look at other men and realize what character is!"
Another solid weekend. We won the championship. Boys pitched great!
"Hawk - Just got the invite to trials. Thank you soooooo much!!!"

"Both boys pitched a combined complete game in the championship game! We appreciate all your help!"
"Definitely proud but more happy to see him out there doing something he enjoys this much. He really really loves to pitch. Thanks again Hawk. I feel likes he's come a far way in a short time working with you."
